This artwork was created in collaboration with text-based artist Sarah Simmons.
From INTERACTION NOW 2022:
"Facing Forward, Looking Back is a collaborative installation by Evan Rumble and Sarah Simmons (sarahsimmonsart.com).  Throughout the pandemic, students, teachers, and bus drivers have been subjected to the decisions of local and national authorities and the judgement of their local communities, while not able to have their own voices respected.  Three face shields are printed with messages written about and by students, teachers, and bus drivers, to provide an intimate view, while three bus mirrors reflect back a larger view, imperative for forward movement.  Yield signs on the floor guide visitors to the shields and the mirrors and ask visitors to ‘yield to’ the various meanings of the messages. Rumble and Simmons collaboration was completely remote until finally assembling all the components for documentation."
